Mary Ellen B. Lechowicz

Mary Ellen Barbara Lechowicz, 95 passed away on October 11, 2024. She was born on July 1, 1929 in Curtis Bay, Maryland to the late Anton and Mary Kalivoda.

Mary Ellen was a person of many interests and passions. She found great delight in gardening, where she nurtured both plants and her community with her vibrant spirit. Her love for shopping often brought her on adventures. She also excelled at entertaining, creating lasting memories through gatherings that highlighted her exceptional ability to connect with others. Additionally, her enjoyment of dancing and singing brought joy not only to her but also to those fortunate enough to witness her bright personality.

She is survived by her devoted son, Matthew Lechowicz and his wife, Maggie; her loving grandson, Andrew Lechowicz and his wife, Amanda; her dear great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Ansley Lechowicz; and her loving companion, Oscar “Bud” Wurzberger. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lechowicz, her daughter, Linda Lechowicz, and her sisters, Emily Hube, Mildred Groh, Helen Grantlin and Virginia Ziemer.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Sunday, Oct. 20th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Oct. 21st at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake.

Her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her will miss her dearly. The warmth and light that Mary Ellen brought into this world will be remembered and cherished by those whose lives she touched.
