Mary Hoffman

October 10, 1931 — April 20, 2014

Mary Louise Hoffman, 82, a 51-year resident of Crownsville, MD and previously of Morris, NY and Barnstable, MA, died peacefully surrounded by her family at Anne Arundel Medical Center on April 20. Born October 10, 1931 in Morris, NY to the late Lynn A. and Clara Foote, she was a 1949 graduate of Barnstable High School in MA. She was a 1986 graduate of University of Baltimore with a bachelor's degree in Jurisprudence. She was owner-broker of Hoffman Real Estate Inc. in Crownsville for 41 years. She had previously been owner of Town and Country Antiques in Crownsville and a school bus driver. She was active in the community, serving as president of the South Shore Health Clinic and Historic Baldwin Hall. She was an officer in PTA's, Arden Civic Assoc., A.A. Co.'s Assoc. of Realtors and the Women's Council of Realtors and Girl Scout leader of Troop 642 - Herald Harbor. Mary enjoyed spending time with family and traveling having visited 29 states and 31 countries on 6 continents. Her interests included reading, antiques, auctions, flea markets and yard sales. She was a member of the Ft. Severn Chapter DAR.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and two sisters, James H. Foote, Alice Joy, and Evelyn Stone. She is survived by her husband John E. Hoffman of Crownsville; four children Lance Gardner, Eric and his wife Marsha Gardner, Annie and her husband Daniel Medford, Joni and her husband Rick Clough, all of Crownsville. She is survived by twelve grandchildren: Katrina Stafford, Jason Gardner, Jerry Smoot, Jeffrey Smoot, Eric Lau, Mary Gardner, John Gardner, Andrew J. Medford, Isabelle Clough, Coral Medford, Hunter Gardner, Robert Clough; and eight great-grandchildren: Zackary Gardner, Krystal Gardner, Dylan Gardner, Lana Smoot, Ava Gardner, Emily Smoot, Jeffrey Smoot Jr, Caroline Smoot.
Flowers are welcome, but if you choose, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children - Philadelphia in memory of Mary Hoffman, wife of Noble John Hoffman
