Mary Kirby

December 9, 1923 — January 3, 2022

Mary Margaret Kirby, 98, of Glen Burnie, passed away at her home on January 3, 2022. She was born in Baltimore to the late William Patrick and Florence Elizabeth Gahan. She worked as an administrative secretary for Patuxent Institution for 33 years, the longest of any state employee. She was the treasurer for the Maryland State Employees Association and greatly enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, sewing and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ann E. Wich and Matthew J. Gahan; daughters-in-law, Mary F. Baker and Linda C. Kirby; and son-in-law, Wayne A. Krauch.

Mary is survived by her loving children, Charles T. Kirby, Cheryl M. Krauch, George D. Kirby and Kevin W. Kirby and his wife, Kelly; and many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Tuesday, January 11th, from 5 - 8 PM. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 12th, 10 AM, at New Cathedral Cemetery. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made in her name to Alpha-1 Foundation by visiting www.alpha1.org
