Mary Meeks

Mary Alicia Meeks, 94, of Millersville died November 6 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center following complications from surgery. Mrs. Meeks was born in New Castle, Indiana on June 26, 1914. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1932 and married her high school sweetheart, John F. Meeks. She was a homemaker most of her life but also worked for several years at H&R Block in New Castle. Mrs. Meeks was an active member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and served on the New Castle City Council. She enjoyed playing bridge, needlework, sewing, and crossword puzzles, but most of all enjoyed time spent with her family. She moved to Maryland in 1982.
Mrs. Meeks was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1959, as well as her parents, James and Agnes Clinton and her brother, James Clinton. She is survived by her son, John F. Meeks and his wife Virginia of Bel Air, and four daughters: Alice A. Meeks of Millersville, Barbara M. Hartgrove and her husband Stephen of Glen Burnie, Mary Jo Coyner and her husband Randall of Millersville, and Cheryl J. Meeks of Odenton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: John Hartgrove and his wife Gloria, James Hartgrove, Joseph Hartgrove, Stephanie Hancock and her husband Joseph, Antonia Kollmann, Nicole Revis and her husband Tim, Michelle Sobolewski and her husband David, Jaclyn Coyner and Emily Coyner. In addition, she is survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Matthew and Darren Hartgrove, Jennifer and Mitch Hancock, Kassidy and Lindsey Kollmann, Tyler and Carter Revis and Madison, Samantha and Alyssa Sobolewski.
