Mary Sapp

September 20, 1944 — February 11, 2018

Mary (Diane) Sapp née Forsht, 73, of Glen Burnie passed away on Feb. 11, 2018. Diane was born and raised in Glen Burnie, Md. She graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1962 and attended Anne Arundel Community College.

Diane's life was one of service. She was employed by Anne Arundel County Public Schools as a Teacher's Aide and served the constituents of District 2 in the Anne Arundel County Council as a Legislative Assistant for Mike Gilligan. She was also employed and retired from the Anne Arundel County Public Library system where she was a fixture at the circulation desk at North County Library for several decades.

Diane served in numerous capacities supporting local schools, community associations, little league, and other civic organizations. She was always among the first in line to volunteer for committees, host meetings, make baked goods, and participate in any way she could.

Prior to her passing she and her husband and soul-mate of 53 years travelled widely including trips to many areas of the Continental US, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean. These trips always ended with exciting stories and a new group of friends.

Diane loved entertaining, reading, cooking, and meeting new people. She also enjoyed taking classes at the senior center and the community college. She loved her family deeply and adored her grandchildren, as anyone who spent more than a moment with her soon learned.

Diane Sapp is preceded in death by her parents, Robert I and Evelyn I Forsht, brothers Robert and William Forsht, and Sister JoAnn Behegan. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Robert Sapp Jr., her children, Joseph Robert Sapp III and his wife Deidre Vykol Sapp and Brian Forsht Sapp and his wife Erica Rosen, and her grandchildren, Alan Joseph Sapp, Joseph Robert Sapp IV, Lauren Theresa Sapp, and Rebecca Elaina Sapp. She is also survived by her brother, Edward I Forsht and her sister and brother-in-law Judith Anne and Timothy Earnest, and her brother- and sister-in-law, Dave and Leona Mundt. Diane considered herself fortunate to have a close extended family that included dozens of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She accounted each of these family members a blessing.

The family is planning a Memorial Service to celebrate Diane's life at a date later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
