Mary Shafer

Mary C. Shafer (nee Bellman), 86, of Glen Burnie, passed away on February 27, 2018. She was born in Baltimore to the late Catherine and George Bellman. Mary was a devout Catholic and was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed Search-A-Word books, walking the Glen Burnie Mall with the Harbor Hikers and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Paul E. Shafer; great-grandson, Austin Buchanan; son-in-law, John Petrecca; and her sister, Margaret Trabert (Joseph).
She is survived by her children, Paula Petrecca, George Shafer and his wife, Brenda, Kathy Francis and her husband, Michael; grandchildren, Alex Buchanan (Debbie), Jeremy Shafer (Jenn), Kevin Shafer, Kaelyn Francis, Karlee Francis and Lyssa Tirrell; and her great-grandchildren, Hailey, Robert and Jacob Buchanan, Juliana, Jaxson and Jaelyn Shafer. She is also survived by her brother and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Saturday, March 3rd, from 4-8 PM and Sunday, from 2-6 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, 10 AM, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
