Nathaniel Hosea McBride, son of Hosea Nathaniel McBride and Lena Laura (Lawson) McBride (both deceased), was born at Provident Hospital in Baltimore, MD on August 1, 1950. He was the third of four children born to this union. His brother, Elijah Lawson preceding him in death.
He received his early education in the Baltimore City school system, attending consecutively, Fannie L. Barbour Elementary School, Booker T. Washington Junior High School and Carver Vocational-Technical High School. Nathaniel was a bright student, and graduated with a degree in Automotive Mechanics in June 1969. He worked at Executive Pontiac in Baltimore until he was drafted into the military in June of 1970. Affectionately called, "Junior" or "Mac" by his friends and family, he was quoted as saying, "Getting drafted was the best thing that ever happened to me." During this time he formed a lasting relationship with Bernadette Brown.
Nathaniel leaves to cherish his memory his life partner of 42 years, Bernadette Brown. Other family members include five children, Nathaniel A. McBride, Gary R. Nelson, Anthony N. McBride, Angela B. Curtis (Travis), Kristen X. McBride (Richard); ten grandchildren, Delayne Nelson, Jasmine McBride, Brittany Nelson, Tarae Curtis, Chase Wagner McBride, Chantell Lewis, Asia McBride, Alyssia-Andrea Curtis, Lena-Laura Lewis, Nathaniel McBride, Jr.; one great granddaughter, Jahnya Hill; sisters, Dorothy M. Lawson Martin, Daisy M. McBride Johnson (Eddie); several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
