Mazella Thomas

Mazella Viola Eggers Thomas, age 93 of Annapolis, MD, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2011, after being ill since the end of September, 2011. Born January 25, 1918, in Zionville, NC, to Rev. Roby Custer Eggers and Sallie R. Bumgardner Eggers. Married Grant Hobart Thomas, of North Fork, NC on February 25, 1944. One daughter, Darlene Dare Thomas, was born on April 25, 1947 in Boone, NC. They moved to Baltimore County in 1949, where her husband worked farming until 1961 at which time they moved to Glen Burnie, MD when Mr. Thomas was hired by the State of MD. Mrs. Thomas worked as a seamstress in the Alteration Dept. of Hochschild Kohn for 11 years. She continued living in Glen Burnie until 2007, when she moved to Heritage Harbour. She enjoyed oil painting consisting mostly of landscapes and sewing. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband; Grant H. Thomas and her brothers, Ernest and Dwight Eggers. She is survived by her sister, Pauline Eggers Sherwood Goulds, of Banner Elk, NC; a niece and a sister-in-law in Cecil County, MD; two nieces and one nephew in Baltimore County, MD; a sister-in-law and a niece and nephew in the Portsmouth, VA area; a sister-in-law in North Fork, NC and a sister-in-law in Silverstone, NC; and a few nieces and nephews in the Zionville / North Fork area.
