On May 24, 2007, Mevlin E. Galloway passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was only 57. Beloved husband of Rebecca M. Galloway (nee Merson) for almost 36 years; Dearest son of Belva M. Galloway; Devoted father of Paula A. Duley, Melvin Jr. and John H. Galloway; Loving brother of Brenda Fox, Anna Evans, James Galloway Jr. and Sarah Childers; Cherished grandfather of nine. He was predeceased by his father,James D. Galloway, and one granddaughter. Melvin is also survived by his grandmother, Margaret Stidham. He lived in Hanover for 16 years and, prior to that, he lived in Laurel. Melvin worked at the Maryland Aviation Administration for 25 years before retiring in July of 2006. He was known to his co-workers as "Elvis". Melvin enjoyed watching television, whether it was wrestling, old movies or cartoons. He also enjoyed collecting video cassettes and owned over four hundred. He enjoyed going to classic car shows and owned a 1969 Plymouth. Melvin also enjoyed going fishing. More than anything, he liked to spend time with his family and friends.
