Michael Francis Lind, 70, of Pasadena, Maryland, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on May 19, 2019. He was born on October 30, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late William and Virginia Lind. Mike is survived by his ever faithful and loving wife, Linda K. Boles Lind. He was preceded in death by his brother, Terrence Lind. He is survived by his brother, William Lind, and by his two sisters, Jennifer Lind and Lora Henry, and by his two children, Melissa K. Ellwood and Michael C. Lind. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Lindsey K. Atkinson, Erin R. Ellwood and Alex C. Ellwood.
Mike was considered by all who met him to be loving, kind and generous with his time and money. He always put the needs of others before his own. Mike graduated from the University of Maryland College of Business and Public Administration with a Bachelor of Science degree. Mike loved his country, serving six years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and recently retired from General Motors after an impressive forty-three year career with the company.
He was a member of Brooklyn United Methodist Church for many years. Later, he became a member of Community United Methodist Church, in Pasadena, Maryland. Mike faithfully served God and Community United Methodist Church as Chair of the Church Council, as a member of the Church Pre-School Board, as a member of the United Methodist Men, as a member of the Church Choir, by helping to feed the hungry and by participating in many church fundraisers.
In his spare time, Mike was dedicated to helping family members in need of his time and skills, especially with home improvement projects. He was a loyal supporter of the University of Maryland sports programs and has held season tickets to the Lady Terps women’s basketball games since 2001. Mike also enjoyed watching Ravens and Orioles games with his family. He enjoyed maintaining his beautifully landscaped yard, feeding and watching “his” birds, family game nights and swimming in the family’s pool which he built with his own two hands.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., located at 1 2nd Avenue, S.W. (at Crain Highway), Glen Burnie, Maryland 21061, on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Community United Methodist Church, located at 8680 Ft. Smallwood Road, Pasadena, Maryland 21122, on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors before the funeral service from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Interment at Glen Haven Memorial Park, located at 7231 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, Maryland 21061, immediately following Funeral Service. All are invited to a luncheon hosted by Community United Methodist Church, immediately following Interment.
