On August 20, 2013 Rev. Michael W. Higgs, Sr., 65, a resident of Severn for 45 years, passed away at home. He was born in Daniels, MD on September 5, 1947 to the late Elwood and Nellie Higgs. He was employed with Reliable Contracting for nine years and was an active member of Severn Community Pentecostal Church. Rev. Higgs loved serving the Lord and had a humble and gentle spirit. He took great pride in helping out other people in need and enjoyed watching Westerns and drinking his coffee. He was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan; but, his greatest joy of all was spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Butterscotch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Higgs. Rev. Higgs is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda; two children, Tammy Emory and husband Mike and Rev. Michael W. Higgs, Jr. and wife Michelle; four grandchildren, Joshua William Emory, Jessica Emory, Jeremy Michael Higgs and Justin William Higgs; one great-grandson, Jayden Wayne Hartman with one on the way; and seven siblings, Dorothy, Bobbie, Janice, Ruthie, Brenda, Elwood, Jr. and Larry.
