George Charles Wharry, 87, of Linthicum, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019. George was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 28, 1932, to the late Elisabeth and William Wharry. He served his country proudly as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. George worked for many years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Linthicum, and also worked as a farmer, and as a school bus driver for Huber’s Bus Service. He enjoyed farming, working on cars & farm equipment, canning produce he grew on his farm, stained glass, and he was an excellent cook.
George is survived by his beloved sister, Margaret J. Liberatore; his cherished nieces & nephews, Becky Sue, Betty Ann, Judy, Carlos, Steven, Gloria, Kathy, Doris, Francine, Gail, and Tom; his 15 loving great-nieces & nephews and his 16 great-great-nieces & nephews. George was predeceased by his parents, Elisabeth & William Wharry and his dear siblings, Billy, Henry, Carlos, Elisabeth, Johnnie, Doris, and Charles.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, S.W. (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, August 8, at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Violetville, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in George’s name may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinson.org OR the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org .
