James W. Slattery, Jr.

James W. “Jim” Slattery, Jr, 74, a 47 year resident of Glen Burnie, MD passed peacefully in the early morning hours of August 2nd. Born July 19, 1945 he was the son of the late James W. Slattery, Sr and Elizabeth Carlin Slattery of Stuart, FL.

A native of Westbury, Long Island NY, he moved his family to Maryland and joined the Air National Guard, after having served in the USAF attaining the rank of EF5 Staff Sergeant and receiving special commendation during his service in Vietnam. Following his military service he retired from a career in sales.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice Ann Slattery and his three children Elizabeth Slattery of Atlanta, GA, Erin Slattery Quick and her husband Curtis Quick of Brooklyn Park MD, and his son James Mitchell (Jim) Slattery, also of Glen Burnie. The family will receive visitors at the family owned Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave SW (at Crain Hwy) Glen Burnie on Tuesday, August 6th from 6-8PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, August 7th, 10 AM, in the funeral home chapel. Interment MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to one of several important organizations in lieu of flowers. And the Maryland Veterans Healthcare system (https://www.maryland.va.gov/giving/donate001.asp#online) as so many Veterans are in need of assistance and care.
