Alice M. Ashby died peacefully at the age of 86 after a period of illness on July 8, 2019. Alice was the daughter of Nathan and Nina Wilcoxen and grew up in the Ellicott City/Catonsville areas. She was preceded in death by her husband and one true love, Robert Ashby. Her three siblings, Emma, Jessie, and Juanita are all deceased.

Alice is survived by her children, Sharon Malecki, Patricia Heininge, and Robert Ashby Jr. and their spouses, John Malecki and Denise Ashby. She is also survived by her devoted grandchildren, Jason Hekman, Andrea Cook, Jennifer Sheridan, and Robert Ashby, III, and three great grandchildren, Bryson and Blaine Hekman and Reagan Sheridan. She will be sorely missed by her nieces and nephews and all of the extra people in her life who called her Mom, Granny….

Alice devoted her life to her family and was quite content to be a stay at home mom, then a grandmother who was available to care for grandchildren. After her husband passed and her grandchildren grew up, she greatly enjoyed working as a door greeter at Walmart. She loved to play word games, play the lottery, and chat with friends. For many years, she was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 276.
