Leona Laverne Peluso, 75, of Ferndale passed away surrounded by her family on May 22, 2019. Leona was born in Baltimore to the late William L. and Leona E. (Watkins) Schwartz. She grew up in a loving family she was one of three children raised in Baltimore and Pasadena. Her siblings remained close throughout their entire lives. She shared many special relationships with a close-knit family some cousins were more like siblings. She graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1961. She married the love of her life William “Bill” Peluso on June 13, 1964, the two had dated since she was sixteen. She retired from Maryland General Hospital where she worked as a Mail Room Clerk for many years. However, her greatest job was being Mom, and Mom Mom. She really enjoyed BINGO! Bingo and bowling kept her calendar full and fun. She not only enjoyed bowling but took time coach children as they learned to bowl. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting Wildwood, New Jersey family trips were not complete until she made her stop at the Casino a pastime she enjoyed. She will be remembered for her love, her quiet nature, and her simplistic approach to life. She had several quotes for example one “If God wanted you to have wholes in your ears he would have put them there.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William “Bill” Peluso; infant son, William Peluso, Jr.; brother, William ‘Billy” Schwartz; and her brother-in-law, Joseph Peluso.
She leaves to cherish precious memories her devoted daughter, Brenda L. Parker; cherished grandchildren, Jonathan and Rachael Parker; dear sister, Linda Blankenship (Charles “Rick”), a host of loving nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. S.W. (at Crain Highway) Glen Burnie, on Tuesday, May 28th, from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, 1 PM, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow services at Louden Park Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to American Heart Association in her name.
