Mary Ann (Mickley) Stack passed away on June 4, 2020 at St. Agnes Medical Center surrounded by her loving husband and sons. Mary was born in Maryland, on May 7th 1957 to the late Vernon and Nancy Mickley, who were longtime residents of Columbia, MD. Mary was a graduate of Wilde Lake High School, where she was a member of the gymnastics team and also became an avid swimmer. She met the love of her life, Mike, who was her high school sweetheart. They married shortly after graduating. Just a few years later Mary took on the proud title of mom, and Mike and Mary had their first son, “Little Mike.”
In addition to her raising her young son, Mary also managed to run a daycare, and then the family welcomed their 2nd son, Timothy. As the boys were growing up they were fondly known as “Destruct” and “Destroy” and brought immeasurable joy to their parents. The boys loved spending their summers at the swim club with Mom.
While Mary was raising her sons, she decided to study and become certified as an Optician. This became a passion for her and she later became an Ophthalmic Technician. In keeping with her love and dedication for ophthalmology, Mary proudly donated her corneas after her passing. She truly loved her job!
She loved reading her bible and singing in church. You would often find her singing in the car or while she was on the treadmill. Mary was devoted to the women’s group and was a faithful Christian, wife, mother, friend, sister, and worker.
Some of her most favorite things to do, were walking in the park, reading, watching Orioles baseball, and family gatherings. Mary also loved to cook, she was always providing food and was known for her famous lasagna. She would make weekly excursions to multiple grocery stores because she loved to shop, especially with coupons—she always savored a deal.
Keeping herself fit, exercising and eating healthy were also a big part of her enjoyable routine. Going out to dinner with her husband, vacations with the family to Ocean City, and Deep Creek were always cherished. Mary and Mike would come home from work and spend quality time together by taking walks around the neighborhood.
Running her household, and spending quality time with her family making beautiful memories was a vital part of her life. Mary had a generous heart, and would give to several charities and for those in need. Mary was consistent, and had a steady loving presence in all her relationships. She will be missed beyond measure by her family and all that had the privilege of knowing her.
Mary’s memory and legacy will continue on by her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, Michael G. Stack; her first son, Michael P. Stack and his wife Katherine Stack, her second son, Timothy G. Stack; along with her 2 sisters, Jenny Krinsky and Laura Evans, and her brother, Joe Mickley. A funeral service for Mary will be held on Tuesday, June 9th at 11:00am at Severn Christian Church, 8132 New Cut Road, Severn, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to one of her favorite charities, Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or at www.stjude.org
