Virginia Lee Duncan

Virginia Gillis Duncan, 86, of Ferndale passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2019 surrounded by family. Virginia was born to Alex and Bertha Smith in August 1932. She was one of nine children. Her early years were spent in the hills of Kentucky. She moved to Baltimore around the age of 9. At the age of 16 she married her sweetheart Ernest Gillis. They raised four beautiful children, Linda, Sharon, Bertha, and William. She spent many years working at Western Electric. One of greatest joys after she retired was working with children at Ferndale Day Nursery. Later in life she married Carl Duncan Sr. They spent time traveling to Florida and North Carolina visiting family.

Virginia was preceded in death by her first husband Ernest, daughter Linda, second husband Carl, and daughter Bertha.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon, son William, brothers Rubin and Dorsey; sisters, Anna and Bonnie.  Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, S.W. (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Friday, July 5, from 11 AM to 1 PM.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held immediately following at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel.  A Private Interment at Glen Haven Memorial Park will follow the service.
