Nancy Pitz

Nancy Mae Mackbee Pitz passed away at her home on Nov. 21, 2014 surrounded by her family after a two year battle with cancer. She was 65 years old. Nancy Mae McGinley was born in Baltimore, MD on July 17, 1949 to James and Betty McGinley. She was raised on the waterfront in Pasadena, MD and graduated from Northeast High School in 1967. She was employed by Westinghouse Corp. in Linthicum, MD from 1967 to 1993 where she worked in production and material management. Later in her career she worked for Northrop Grumman Corporation, and finished her career in 2012 at its Annapolis location. In 1970, she gave birth to her beloved son, Thomas Jerome Mackbee. She shared her home with her son, her brother James McGinley and her most cherished granddaughter Christina. In 2003, she reunited with her childhood friend John Robert Pitz, of Stevensville, MD. They married in 2004, settled in Glen Burnie MD, and enjoyed 10 years of marital joy. She enjoyed traveling, reading, walking with friends, and spending time with family.

In addition to her husband, son, brother and granddaughter, she is survived by her grandson James Joseph Mackbee of Texas; three stepdaughters, Jennifer Yonkos and her husband Lance of University Park, MD, Heather Pitz of Linthicum, MD, and Shannon Abel and her husband Brian, of Bel Air, MD. She is also survived by five more grandchildren - Jack, Phoebe, Taylor, Alexander, and Brynn, and many precious friends and family members.

Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Chesapeake.
