On April 5, 2015, Nelson "Poppy" Wise Sr. passed away suddenly at his home of natural causes. Poppy was a fun loving man with an infectious smile. A smile that would light up the room like a shining star. Poppy enjoyed the stars and loved the outdoors. The wilderness was a big part of his life as he enjoyed hunting and fishing as he watched nature's beauty. Poppy was a member of the Allegany Sportsman Club for several years. The multiple friendships he gained there will be everlasting. He worked in flooring installation his entire life and was partners with his son Nelson at N and W Floor Covering for 25 years. He enjoyed working but most of all he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loving and spoiling was the name of the game. He was very good at it. His love for the little ones was unconditional. Poppy taught us all that life wasn't material. All we needed was each other. His outlook on life was don't sweat it and roll with the flow. A quality that stood out in his personality. An amazing man.
Poppy is survived by his son Nelson Wise Jr. and daughter-in-law Patricia Wise of Lansdown, MD, son Richard Wise of Washington State, daughter Mary Wise of Ohio, son-in-law Edward Carson of Pasadena, MD, daughter Jeanette Carroll and son-in-law Michael Carroll of Florida, sister Mary Bennoitt of Pasadena, MD, sister Sharon Herrman of Millersville, MD, brother Jerry Wise of Pasadena, MD, brother Milton Wise of Denton, MD, 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
