Norbert P. Scott, Jr.

Norbert Patrick Scott, Jr., 76, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023.  He was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, to the late Edna and Norbert Scott, Sr.  Norbert worked for Northrop Grumman as an electronic technician for 45 years and was a Scout Master of Troop 887and cub Troop 911.  Under his tutelage, three scouts made Eagle Scout.  He took the scouts to Philmont and backpacked along the C&O Canal.  Norbert always made time for his sons and had the patience of a saint.   Norbert was a member and very involved at The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer,  now called Rejoice Fellowship Church, in Glen Burnie for 52 years.  He was on the church council for two terms, the worship & music committees, sang in the choir, and taught confirmation classes.  He enjoyed spending time with family, loved to ski and sail on his 25 foot sailboat, and he loved to travel – taking over 40 cruises all over the world. Norbert and Laurel took ballroom dance lessons for 25 years. Norbert could do a mean tango.

Norbert married the love of his life, Laurel L. Cipra, on September 5, 1970, and together raised two sons, Norbert Patrick Scott, III (Amy) and Erin Neal Scott (Carrie).  In addition, Norbert is survived by is his cherished grandchildren, Madeleine Elizabeth and Patrick Norbert Scott; and his dear sisters, Rita JoAnn Boyce and Susanna Edna Polly. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Avenue, S.W. (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Wednesday, May 3rd, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 4th, at 4  PM, at Rejoice Fellowship, 7606 Quarterfield in Glen Burnie, Maryland 21061.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Norbert’s name are requested to be made to Marley Station Fire Department 18, 7726 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Glen Burnie, MD 21060, or Rejoice Fellowship.
