Norman Blades Jr

Norman "Carl" Blades, Jr., 61, of Chester, passed away on July 28, 2018.
Carl was born on April 11, 1957 the older of two sons of, Norman, Sr. and Roberta (Limerick) Blades.

He grew up in the Ferndale area, and graduated from Andover High School in 1975. After high school he began a career as a longshoreman that spanned 42 years. He was vice president of Local Union # 1429 for 2 terms, and was a Foreman for 35 years. He enjoyed boating, restoring old motors, fishing, crabbing, and being with his family. He married Dawn Ditty on Sept, 8, 2012. Carl was loving, giving and will be deeply missed by his family. He was known on the water front for his "Magic Hands" that seemed to fix anything broken.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Dawn; his parents, Norman, Sr. and Roberta Blades; his brother, Michael K. Blades (Kimberly); children, Shannon M. Blades, Tracey A. Blades, and Bradley S. Blades; step-children, Donald Ditty, Jr. (Brianna); and Ashley Newnan (Ryan); grandchildren, Jayden, Sunny, Brian, Emilee, Mason, Madeline, and Makenna; his niece and nephew, Kelsey J. and Brent M. Blades; a host of other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Wed., Aug. 1 from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel.
