Norman C. Blades Sr., 88, of Glen Burnie, passed away at home on September 16, 2021. He was born in Baltimore to the late Lee and Anna Blades. He honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Norman worked as a retail representative for Pepsi Cola for 18 years. After he left Pepsi, he went on to work at the Port of Baltimore, retiring as a supervisor after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 40 and the Ocean City Elk Lodge. He enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his wife and family and loved having a good time and socializing with his friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting with his father. In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his son, Norman C. Blades Jr.; and his brothers, Leonard and Calvin Blades.
Norman is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Roberta Limerick Blades; devoted son, Michael Blades and his wife, Kim; cherished grandchildren, Shannon Blades, Brent Blades (Kelli), Tracey Blades, Bradley Blades and Kelsey Blades; loving great-grandchildren, Jayden, Sonny and Brian Mullinex, Madeline and Annabelle Blades and Emilee Blades; and caring sisters, Helen Simpson and Linda Andrews.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd Avenue, S.W. (at Crain Hwy) in Glen Burnie, on Monday, Sept. 20th, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Masks are required for all visitors . A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, 11 AM, in the funeral home chapel. Interment Loudon Park Cemetery.
