Oliver Henry Snyder, IV

Oliver Henry Snyder IV, born on November 16th, 1961 passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday November 10th, 2024, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy battle with Cancer. Oliver was a devoted husband and loving father. His greatest passion in life was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Teresa, and his children Jennifer Reed (Brendon), Corbett Snyder (Amanda), Oliver Snyder V (Kara), Andrew Snyder (Kaitlyn), Lisa Snyder (Cory), Christopher Snyder, Benjamin Snyder (Madison), Emily Snyder (Colten), Tracey McMullen (John), Trisha Feliciano (Carlos), and Dea Fleming (Howard), as well as 18 grandchildren with two on the way, and 5 great grandchildren with one on the way. He is also survived by his Father, Oliver Snyder III, and his brothers Phillip Snyder (Cathy) and Charles Snyder (Julie), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jo Ann Snyder, his sister Toni Carter, and his daughter Tina Schlichting.

Oliver cherished his career, and retired gracefully after 34 years from the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local #10. He proudly worked for Otis Elevator, Millar Elevator, Schindler Elevator, and most recently Elevator Control Service. He also enjoyed teaching aspiring elevator mechanics in the classroom. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. One of his greatest pleasures was working on his 1972 Plymouth Duster and his 1978 Chevrolet Corvette with his sons. 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the George Pugh Fund, 9600 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, Lanham, MD 20706. The George Pugh Fund is a 501c foundation scholarship fund for the children of the Elevator Union that Oliver was so proud to be a part of.
