Patricia Ann Hughes

Patricia “Patty” Ann Hughes, 89 of Arnold, Maryland passed away on September 29, 2024. Patty was born on March 12, 1935 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Edgar and Garnett Penix. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Greenwaldt; her daughter, Robin D. Pumphrey; and her brothers, Michael Penix and Dusty Stump.

She is survived by her daughter, Kenna A. Briggs; her sister, Jenny McCann; her son-in-law, Mel Pumphrey; her grandchildren, Stacey Nieves (Wally), Kenny Pumphrey (Jenn), Kristen Phillips (Josh) and Meghan Briggs (James Engleman). She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Patty dedicated a part of her professional life to the Mercantile Bank & Trust Company, where she worked for a decade. Yet, her proudest accomplishment was the immense pride in being a homemaker, a role in which she excelled and found great joy. Patty enjoyed spending quality time with her family, and her role in helping to raise multiple grandchildren is a testament to her nurturing spirit and loving heart. Her life was also enriched by her passion for baking, a skill that brought warmth and sweetness to her family gatherings.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Sunday, Oct. 6th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Oct. 7th at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
