Philip T. Schwarzenberg

Catonsville

        On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Philip Theodore Schwarzenberg of Catonsville, Md passed away peacefully with family by his side. Beloved husband of Beverly Schwarzenberg; loving father of P. Lee Schwarzenberg ( Lori) and Bonnie Bennie (Stewart); devoted grandfather of Brandon Schwarzenberg (Abbye) and Brittany Schwarzenberg; and cherished great-grandfather of Bailey and Lucas. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Schwarzenberg was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ella Mae Schwarzenberg; and his siblings, Joan Hammerer and William Schwarzenberg. 

        Philip was born February 5, 1936 in Baltimore, MD and at the age of 19 he joined the US Marine Corps and was shipped to California and then to Korea. He married Margaret Fugate, and had two children, Philip Lee who was born in 1956 and Bonnie Catherine who was born in 1958. Upon finishing his 4 year service with the Marine Corps he returned to Baltimore and went to work for the Baltimore Transit Company which later was taken over by the Maryland Transit Authority. While working for 40 years at the MTA he drove streetcars, buses, light rail cars and armored trucks. He divorced in 1982 and married Beverly Keyes and lived in Glen Burnie until April 2019. Finally moving to the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, MD. He enjoyed many activities such as bowling, playing pool, skiing, fishing and playing the Lottery. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, VFW and the Marine Corps League.

         Family and friends are invited to gather at the Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, PA, 1 2nd Avenue, SW ,(at Crain Highway), Glen Burnie, MD 21061 on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm where a Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 11:00 am. His Interment will follow at Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore, MD where Mr. Schwarzenberg will receive Military Honors.

 If desired, Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
