On February 19, 2017, Ervin Lewis Bennett, 97, of Glen Burnie, passed away at North Arundel Health & Rehabilitation. Ervin was born on October 14, 1919, in Groveland, NY, to the late Fern and Roy Bennett. He served his country proudly as a Motor Machinist's Mate Third Class in the U.S. Navy, during World War II. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Christian University in South Texas. He then went on to become a Southern Baptist minister for over 35 years. Ervin's life was his dedication to the church, however, he enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and football, and playing pool and card games (especially Skip Bo). He also played and managed the church softball team.
Ervin is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Dorothy L. Bennett; his loving children, Jane A. Blakely and her husband Cary, and Paul E. Bennett and his wife Helen; his cherished grandchildren, Terry L. Youngbar and her husband Charles, Tammy L. Covington, Jason Bennett and his wife Brittney, and Jeffrey Bennett; his beloved great-grandchildren, Zachary Covington, Cari Farrow and her husband Christopher, Emilee Bennett, Rachel Bennett, and Zachary Bennett and his great-great-grandchildren, Skyler Farrow, Zachary Covington, Luci Covington, Cole Farrow, and Cody Farrow; and his dear siblings, Ernest Bennett and his wife Carolyn, Don Bennett and his wife Joyce, and Beulah Stephens.
