Richard Wallace Galloway, 91, of Severn, passed away at his home on February 13, 2021. He was born in Baltimore to the late Clifton and Sarah Galloway. He honorably served in the Army for 21 years and was in the 82nd Airborne, 5th Ranger Company, 25th Division I Corps, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He received numerous medals and ribbons including the Korean Service Medal w/2 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge and Purple Heart. He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening. He loved his family and adored the love of his life, Betty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard “Rick” Wallace Galloway; parents-in-law, John and Louise Martin; brothers, Roland William Galloway and Clifton Wallace Galloway; sisters-in-law, Mary Blucher, Gail Martin and Wanda Knickman; and brothers-in-law, John Martin and James Knickman.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Betty Ann (nee Martin); loving children, Clifton Galloway and his wife, June, Roland Galloway and his wife Stacey Beard, Denise Fitzhugh and her husband, Gregg, and daughter-in-law, Marguerite Galloway; grandchildren, Christine Smith, Aaron Galloway, Candice Dorsey, Rachel Deitz, Austin Fitzhugh, Kerri Weaver, Jacob Fitzhugh, Amanda Olup, Bethany Hershberger and Anastasia Beard; beloved great-grandchildren, Delaney, Reagan, Ethan, Ezra, Javan, Maverick, Andrew, Logan, Gracie, Stella, Jackson, Paige, Lena and Liam; and his dear siblings, Ronald W Galloway and Helen Mae Lusby. He will also be missed by his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Theresa Galloway, Lola Galloway and James Blucher; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy), on Weds., February 24th, from 11 AM – 1 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be private. Those of you that would like to join via zoom, please click on the link below. Service is scheduled to start at 1 PM. Interment MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Linthicum Seventh Day Adventist Church, 901 Andover Road, Linthicum, MD 21090. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only allowing 50 people inside the funeral home at one time and requiring masks for all visitors. We kindly ask that you please keep your visit brief, as there may be people waiting to enter the funeral home.
