Richard L. Lyons, Jr. 'Ricky', age 37, died peacefully but unexpectedly on Saturday, June 20, 2009. He is survived by his father, Richard L. Lyons, Sr., his mother, Mary Ann Boyd, his partner, Sherry King, his sister, Cheryl L. Lyons-Schmidt, and his brother, Steven Wolle, of Virginia.
Ricky was born September 2, 1971. He attended Andover High School and played Varsity soccer for two years. Ricky also played soccer in a variety of independent leagues in Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City.
Ricky was a second-generation member of Boilermaker Local 193, and served an apprenticeship and worked as a welder in power plants and steel mills all over the East Coast. Ricky also was a welding instructor at the Boilermaker Welding School .
Ricky was an avid sports fan, and a Ravens season ticket holder. He rarely missed a game or tailgate party, work permitting. Ricky played golf on and off his whole life, and became an avid golfer during the last year of his life. He also enjoyed a wide variety of music and had a wild and crazy sense of humor.
Ricky will most be remembered for his quick wit, his superhuman Scrabble skills, his happy go lucky attitude, and his tendency to test the boundaries of decency and propriety.
