Richard Morgan Windsor, or "Morg" as he was known in NASA, passed away on August 9, 2018. Morgan was born on October 22, 1932 in Washington, DC to the late Margaret and Culver Windsor. He was a distinguished US Navy Veteran who served in the Korean War. He worked for NASA and his contributions to space sciences, payloads and scientists over more than 50 years were significant. Morg's ebullient approach to the job at hand always made things go more smoothly. The payloads he supported flew mainly on sounding rockets but also on satellites and the Space Shuttle. From Wallops Island, VA to White Sands Missile Range, to Woomera, Australia, the payloads had his enthusiastic, whole hearted support. He will be greatly missed. Morgan was also a pilot and enjoyed golfing and boating.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Windsor; his children, Richard M. Windsor, Jr. (Chrissy); and Sandra Motyka; his grandchildren, Johnathan, Jordan and Jillian Windsor; his step-daughter, Lesley Faff (Tim); his step-grandchildren, Olivia, Riley and Emma Grace Faff.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Friday, August 24th from 5-6 pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 6 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
