Robert George Allenbaugh, Sr., 86, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Bob was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on August 3, 1937, to the late Ida and Herman Allenbaugh, Sr. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force as an Airman Second Class from 1954-1958. Bob went on to work at N.S.A., earning his position as a communications supervisor. While working at N.S.A., he also earned his Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Baltimore. Bob was a devout Christian and attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Glen Burnie. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion Post 40. Bob was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and watching baseball & football.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Joan M. Allenbaugh; his loving children, Robert Allenbaugh, Jr. and Vicki (Steve) Shelsby; five cherished grandchildren; and five adored great-grandchildren, with one on the way. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, Herman Allenbaugh, Jr.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Avenue, S.W. (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Tuesday, September 12th, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 13th, at 10 AM, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 308 Oak Manor Drive, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. Interment at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s name are requested to go to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
