Robert Melvin Breidenbach Jr. was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He died after a brief illness on the morning of October 14, 2023, at the age of 75.
Robert was born to Robert and Lorraine Breidenbach on November 16, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland. He spent his childhood in the South Baltimore neighborhood with a large extended family, and had fond memories of this time with his brother, Ronald Breidenbach, and many cousins and friends. After graduating high school, Robert joined the US Army where he attended signal school in Monmouth, New Jersey. He was later stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he returned to Baltimore where he met his wife of 51 years, Patricia. Together they had 3 children; David C. Breidenbach (deceased), Laura A. Glasgow (Adam), and Matthew E. Breidenbach.
Robert and Patricia lived in the Linthicum neighborhood for 44 years, and were active members of the community and Catholic church. Robert belonged to the Knights of Columbus and many meaningful groups through the St Philip Neri parish.
Robert worked for General Electric Healthcare for over 30 years before retiring in 2006. In his retirement Robert enjoyed sharing his love for sailing, photography, baking, and sports with his three grandchildren; Molly A. Glasgow, Matthew A. Breidenbach, and Ava G. Breidenbach.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, October 20th from 4-7 pm at the Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A. in Glen Burnie, 1 2nd Avenue S.W., (at Crain Hwy) Glen Burnie, MD 21061. The funeral mass will be held on October 21st, at 10:30 am at St. Philip Neri Church in Linthicum, 6405 S. Orchard Road, 21090, with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, MD. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.
