Robert H. McGowan, 73, of Glen Burnie, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Robert was born in Malone, New York on November 2, 1947 to the late Harold and Genevieve McGowan. He attended Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where he earned a degree in History. He went on to attend University of Maryland Law School, where he earned his J.D. Degree. Robert started working for the Public Service Commission of Maryland in 1984, and retired as a Public Utility Law Judge after 34 years of employment. He was a member of several organizations including, The Lions Club, Victorian Society, and the Maryland Conservation Commission. Robert loved to read and he also enjoyed writing, traveling, cooking, walking and running. He recently participated in a half marathon at the age of 70. The one thing Robert enjoyed the most was spending time with his extended family. He was the beloved “Uncle Bob” to his many nieces and nephews and he will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Lydia (nee Stolony); his sister-in-laws, Valentina Skorobatsch (Leo), and Helen Glorioso (Vince); nephews, Leo Skorobatsch (Chrissy), Nick Skorobatsch (Valerie), Vinnie Glorioso (Alexia), and Mike Glorioso (Jaime); nieces, Christine Westphal (Greg), and Karen Chase (Mike), along with 14 great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy), on Tuesday, December 15th, from 2 – 4 & 6-8 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be Private. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make a donation in honor of Roberts name to the Linthicum Lions Club, please see link below.
