Robert Schuman

Robert I. Schuman, 88, a 60 year resident of Linthicum, passed away at St. Joseph's Medical Center on April 18, 2011. He was born on September 7, 1922 in West Baltimore to William and Flora Schuman. Robert was in the Ploy Tech graduating class of 1940. He worked as a wing inspector at Glen L. Martin before serving his country in the 82nd Airbourne between 1944 to 1946. After the Army he was a Baltimore City Fire Fighter from 1947 - 1950. Mr. Schuman also worked at General Elevator as an engineer from 1959 - 1997. He was a member of the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church and Honorary Past Worshipful Master of Glen Burnie Masonic Lodge #213, Scottish Rite, Boumi Temple, Past Scout Master of Troup #843, and Neighborhood Commissioner of the Four River District.
He enjoyed singing with the Scottish Rite Singers and the Boumi Temple Chanters; working at Linthicum Heights UMC; traveling with his late wife around the world; and spending time with his two grandsons. Mr. Schuman is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Delores S. Schuman. Survivors include his son, Dr. Mark R. Schuman and his wife Barbara; and his two grandsons, Paul R. Schuman and Karl R. Schuman.
