VETTERS, ROBERT D. On Aug 28, 2022, Robert Delmas Vetters, 89, a long-time resident of Annapolis and, later, Linthicum, passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Rehab Center. He was born in Baltimore on Oct 28, 1932 to the late Charles Delmas and Viola Virginia Vetters. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vetters was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marie M. Vetters, and his son, Ronald C. Vetters. Mr. Vetters is survived by three children, Robert C. Vetters, Sr. and his wife Lori; Larry W. Vetters; and Vicki M. Vetters; two grandchildren, Kelly M. Vetters Barhorst (Tina) and Robert C. Vetters, Jr. (Kate); and four great-grandchildren; Benjamin, Metis, Samantha, and Ilaria.
For many years Mr. Vetters worked in the floor covering business with his sons; Bobby, Ronnie, and Larry. He was involved with the Annapolis Water Witch Volunteer Fire Dept. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias for over 50 years and Past Supreme Representative of the State of MD, receiving a 50-yr pin and the Pythian Golden Spur. He attended the Halethorpe Community Church in Arbutus for several years before his death. He was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan and enjoyed cooking, eating crabs, reading, and crossword puzzles. He also loved and enjoyed his animals
The family will receive visitors at Singleton’s Funeral Home, 1 2nd Avenue, S.W. (at Crain Hwy) in Glen Burnie, on Friday, Sep. 2, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, with Pythian Services at 7 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, Sep 10 at the Halethorpe Community Church, 1312 Francis Ave, Arbutus, at 11 am, presided over by Dr. Harold Passley, the church’s Associate Pastor. A reception will follow at the church.
