On Friday, July 12, 2024, Roger A. Marquis of Glen Burnie, MD passed away peacefully with his family at his side.
He was the beloved husband of Grace Panning Marquis; loving father of Allen R. Marguis, Ann Gaffney Marquis, (daughter-in-law), Timothy P. Marquis, and William R. Marquis; devoted grandfather of Sara, Rose, Alex, Nicole and Michael Marquis. They lovingly called him ”Grandpere.”
Roger was born on September 11, 1930, in North Smithfield, RI. He had two brothers that preceded him in death, Roland and Florian Jr. He also has a sister, Jacqueline Guilbault of Florida, a brother, Robert Marquis of Maine, and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
At age 13, Roger joined the Brothers of the Sacred Heart where he received his high school and college education, the latter at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. In 1952, he joined the United States Army and served in Germany during the Korean War as a medical equipment services technician, which started his career in medical x-ray. After the army, he attended the University of RT for his Electrical Engineering degree.
He later worked at Keleket, Tracerlab, and CGR Thompson of France. After retiring in 1983, he opened his own business called U & I Remodeling.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Avenue, S.W., (at Crain Highway) Glen Burnie, MD 21061, at 11:00 am. His Inurnment will be held at a later date privately at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD where he will received Military Honors.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 308 Oak Manor Drive, Glen Burnie, MD 21061
