Roland Donald Groves, Sr., 91, a resident of Glen Burnie for over 55 years, passed away on April 5, 2015. Roland was born on February 27, 1924. He served in the US Army as a Tech 5 Anti-Aircraft Artillery Radio Operator who sent and received messages by international Morse Code, serving in New Guinea, Leyte, Luzon and Manila during WWII. He worked for DuPont in the boiler room prior to working for Westinghouse for 25 years as an operator in the boiler room.
Roland was preceded in death by his former wife, Doris Endley Groves; his parents, Helen and Nelson Seiler and his two son's, Roland D. Groves, Jr. and Jerry Wayne Groves. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores Marie Groves; his daughter, Donna Lee Brown and her husband, Howard "Brownie"; his step daughter, Donna Parenti Dietrich; and his daughter-in-law, Karen Groves. He is also survived by a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
The family request memorial contributions to be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake.
