Ronald Owens Pitt, 72, a resident of Glen Burnie for the past 46 years, died peacefully at his home with his wife and family by his side on April 20th, after a seven month illness. Mr. Pitt was born May 29, 1933 in Baltimore, Md. He resided and was educated there until joining the Marine Corps in 1952. On December 20th of that same year, he married Beverly Mae Arnold, his childhood sweetheart. A veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve and the U.S. Marines, Mr. Pitt was employed as a diver for the Glenn L. Martin Co. and as a supervisor with Kennecott Copper Refinery and SCM Chemicals until his retirement in 1998. A member of the American Legion Post 40, he enjoyed spending time with his family, watching football and NASCAR, and reading. The son of the late Owens & Clara B. Pitt, he is survived by Beverly, his wife of 53 years; two sons, Ronald of Pasadena and Michael of Hollywood, MD; two daughters, Cynthia Fowler and Shari Fobare, both of Pasadena; one brother, Dennis Pitt of Hurlock, MD; one sister, Deborah Clayton of Sanford, FL; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his youngest son David, whom he loved dearly.
