Ron Oates, 42, of Arnold passed away on October 1, 2013. Ron was born in 1971 in Long Beach, California. He attended Rasmussen College where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies. Ron worked servicing restaurant equipment for Ecolab, Inc. He was a member of the Berwyn Gun Club. Ron enjoyed reading, history, gun collecting and shooting, and dogs. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Magi Oates; four children, Kenny Stone, Javier Diaz, Lia Diaz and Amber Austin; his father, Ronald Gordon Oates; his mother, Jude Jane Potts and his step-mother, Rita Jean Martin Steffin Oates; brother, Richard Oates and wife Chrystal; sister, Tracey Lancaster; brother-in-law, George Ruiz; cousin, Julio Quiles, and friend, Lynn Scott. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, 1815 Bay Ridge Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403.
