Ronald Mcguirk

Ronald Charles McGuirk, 79, Glen Burnie, passed away at his residence on Aug. 22, 2018.

Ron was born in Baltimore to the late Charles F. and Grace E. (nee Delcher) McGuirk. He grew up in Pasadena and graduated from Calvert Hall College High School, where he was a proud alumnus. He also attended St. John's College in Annapolis. While at St. John's, he met Katherine Sauer who he married on October 1, 1960. Together they raised their two children David and Elizabeth in Glen Burnie. Ron enjoyed traveling and visited all seven continents with Kathy. He also loved spending time with his family at their Ocean City condo. Ron also liked cocktails with friends, and similar to 007, enjoyed a nice Vesper martini. He'd often say "One is not enough and three are too many." Ron made many professional and philanthropic contributions to the community. He worked in banking for 39 years, starting his career as a Bank Teller at 1st National Bank of Maryland and retiring as Senior Vice President Corporate Secretary of 1st Maryland Bankcorp. After retiring he served for seven years as Senior Economic Advisor, Anne Arundel County. Some of his proudest accomplishments were: Councilman, 2nd District, Anne Arundel County 1974-82; Vice President/Treasurer Baltimore-Washington Medical Center 1974-2011; Glen Burnie Town Center Committee 1995-2006. For his efforts, Glen Burnie Town Center Fountain and McGuirk Drive in Marley were named in his honor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Charlotte Monaghan. He is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine S. McGuirk; son, David McGuirk and wife, Carol Evans; daughter, Elizabeth McGuirk; and grandchildren Ian, Gwen, and Andrew McGuirk. At his and Kathy's request, no funeral or service will be held.
