Roy Eugene Bennett, Sr. passed away on Novemeber 22, 2006 at the Howard County General Hospital. He was 82. Roy was born on January 28, 1924 in Organ Cave, WV and resided in White Sulfur Springs, WV. In 1948 Roy moved to Maryland where he was a lifelong Howard County resident. He was the son of Alfred and Edith Mae Massey Bennett. Roy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Felicia Ryder Bennett; a sister, Dorothy Scruggs of White Sulfer Springs, WV; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. Bennett, Sr. and Marianne Bennett of Sykesville; daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne Bennett Lame and Philip Lame of Lewiston, ID; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Roy Bennett, Jr.
Roy retired from a family real estate and custom home building business in 1987 and was a proud WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army attached to the 90th Chemical Mortar Battalion in the European Theater. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather.
