Royce U. Brooks, 86 of Glen Burnie passed away on November 26, 2020. Royce was born on May 7, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the oldest of three children born to the late Loby and Alline Brooks.
Royce grew up in Anne Arundel County and attended Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Following high school, Royce learned carpentry working with a neighbor, Mr. Solden Nicholson and sons. He was also employed by Mr. George Gaither, Sr., where he learned masonry. He was always interested in automobiles and later acquired a job at Greibel Motors as a body & fender repairman. Royce was inducted into the United States Army and served for two years. Upon returning home, Royce found employment at the Maryland House of Correction and later with the Labor Department in Washington, D.C. Royce retired as a contracting officer with the U.S. Office of Building and Maintenance Services.
Royce became enthusiastic about boating. He purchased his first boat and late much larger boats. Royce enjoyed fishing, crabbing and taking family and friends out on his boat. He also enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends in out of state locations. Royce’s main hobby was shooting pool. He loved to shoot pool and he met with friends to shoot pool every week until he was no longer able. Royce also enjoyed spending time at the casinos.
Royce is survived by his sister, Nancy Keith; sister-in-law, Mary Brooks; nephew, Waldon Keith; nieces, Julie Williams (Clay Williams), Stacey Brooks, Kimberly Rashid and a host of other relatives and friends.
