Russell Adam Holmes, 87, of Linthicum, died February 19th at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was born September 9, 1925 in Derby, Vermont, on the Canadian border. He served as a radar technician in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the Southwest Pacific Theater. After the war, he marries Marjorie Perkins of Jeffersonville, Vermont on June 22, 1947. They moved to Potsdam, New York where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering at the Clarkson College of Technology. Soon after graduation he joined a newly formed company in Brainerd, MN with his colleague Jay Welsh. The company was called Manganese Chemicals Corporation. The company relocated to Linthicum, MD in 1962. They both worked for the company until they retired. Russ was very active in the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church. He served in many capacities and his last active role was that of Treasurer. He also volunteered for 7 years with Meals on Wheels and 3 years with NCEON. In addition to his wife, survivors include his two children, Kathi Holmes and Kevin Holmes.
