Sabra Brinkley Corey, 79, wife of James A. Corey of Glen Burnie, and daughter of the late Alex Brinkley and Maude Whitford Brinkley of North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2009.
Married for 63 years, she travelled the United States with her Coast Guard husband when he was stationed in Virginia, Florida, Texas and Alaska.
Wherever they lived, Mrs. Corey was a loving wife and mother to her husband and three children, Craig, Sandy and Jerry. Mrs. Corey and her husband lived in Glen Burnie since 1963.
During her lifetime, Mrs. Corey was a Den Mother for Boy Scouts, volunteered at local churches and her children's schools, teaching crafts, games and embroidery, and helped with fundraising for the schools and also the GBHS marching band.
Later, she enjoyed art, and painted over two dozen oil paintings. She was an accomplished at sewing, and gardening, and enjoyed growing flowers and having a vegetable garden.
Mrs. Corey was born in Craven County, North Carolina and spent most of her childhood in Vanceboro, North Carolina.
She is survived by her husband, James Arthur Corey; her son James Craig Corey of North Carolina; her daughter Sandra K. Mays of Ellicott City; her son Jerry D. Corey of Millersville; her grandchildren Emily Mays Damiani and K.C. Mays of Ellicott City; and her great grandson, Erin Mays of Ellicott City.
