Shirley Gerard

Shirley Lee Gerard, devoted wife of the late Claude Gerard, died on March 16, 2021 after a courageous struggle with breast cancer.  She was 83.  Born in New York, New York, she was the daughter of William C. Lee and Lucretia Farley.  Both of her parents were small business owners.  Shirley’s mother brought her to Baltimore as a child, where she spent the rest of her life.  Shirley’s career included teaching school, developing a direct mail business, and running an advertising agency which had federal contracts in the area of recruitment. Shirley taught in both Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County schools. Shirley and her husband were partners in both business and life. Traveling and celebrating life with their family and friends was a vital part of their lives together. Shirley is survived by her sister Elaine Burdette and her husband, William; and her nieces and nephews Kathleen and David Shields, Cristine and Rod Largoza, MaryAnne and Maurice Byan, Margaret Dee, Ken F. and LuAnne Gerard, Don Gerard; and her stepchildren, Helen Gerard and Marie Epstein.

Visitation will be held at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd Avenue SW, Glen Burnie, on Wednesday, March 24th, from 11 am - 1 pm. The funeral service will follow directly after at 1 pm, and the interment at Glen Haven Memorial Park follows. Donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are requiring masks for all visitors. For those of you that would like to join the funeral service via Zoom, the link is below.
