It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Louise Quick, 92, on February 12, 2025. She was born in Frederick, Maryland on January 14, 1933, to the late Catherine and Frank Thayer. She grew up in Baltimore and was one of nine siblings. Shirley secretly married the love of her life, James Quick, on November 25, 1954, later announcing it to their families. Together, they made their home in Glen Burnie where they raised their two children, Laurel and James. Over the years, she worked at many places including a movie theater, beauty salon and as a spot welder at MPT, to name a few. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, loved food, especially anything and everything dark chocolate, reading, taking long rides, working in her yard, cross stitching and sitting in her rocking chair on the patio, keeping an eye on the neighbors. She was also a longtime parishioner of St. Bernadette’s parish in Severn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Leo Quick.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, Laurel Eizabeth Tewey and James Leo Quick Jr.; and her cherished grandchildren, Krystin Elizabeth Kosar and Zachary James Emmett Quick.
A small family gathering will be held privately at a later date.
