Stanford Kenneth Mohr, 86, of Severna Park, Md, passed away peacefully at his home on February 10, 2025. Stan was born in Allentown, Pa to Ruth V. Mohr and Stanford K. Mohr on July 10, 1938. He went to Allentown High School, class of 1956. Stan was a member of the Allentown Chapter of the Order of DeMolay. In 1956. He met Alice Janet Molter, who would later become his beloved wife on August 10, 1963.
Stan attended Penn State Extension, Pennsylvania State University from 1957 until 1959. He later obtained his BS from the University of Maryland University College in May 1975. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, attached to the Army Security Agency, the Army’s signals intelligence branch, and was honorably discharged in 1962. Stan continued his service to his country that he loved so much when he began his civil service career with the National Security Agency from 1962 until his retirement in 1997.
He was a long-time member of the Agency’s Phoenix Society. His work at the Agency allowed him the opportunity to travel, first in 1968 with Alice to South Korea for two years, and again in 1979 with his family of four to Japan for three years, wonderful and memorable experiences for all.
Throughout his life, Stan was active in his church and was a member of the choir; he enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture; and restoring one of his most prized possessions, his 1974 Triumph TR6 convertible. When he was stationed in Japan, he volunteered as the high school football coach on base at Camp Zama. In retirement, he and Alice enjoyed traveling, some of their most enjoyable travel adventures being their trip sailing around Hawaii and their trip to Israel to visit The Holy Land.
As a devoted grandfather and sharing his love of fishing and travel, Stan took a very special trip with all three of his grandchildren when they were teenagers, taking them individually on a luxury chartered deep sea Alaskan fishing trip to fish for salmon – a beautiful memory his beloved grandchildren will carry with them forever.
Stan is survived by his wife, Alice of Severna Park, Md; daughter, Stephanie (Jeff Schreiber) Mohr of Pinehurst, NC; son, David (Kerry) Mohr of Grasonville, Md; and three grandchildren, Adam Popielarcheck Jr., and Kaleigh and Gregory Mohr. Stan is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty R. Hilbert.
