On November 12, 2010, STELLA E. SPIES of Glen Burnie. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth O. Spies; devoted mother of Edward J. Postek, Jr., Sandra M. Wojcicky and her husband Joseph, and Kathleen M. Kozub; cherished grandmother of Antoinette Zipper, Edward J. Postek, III, Joseph Wojcicky, Jr., and Jeffrey A. and Andrew J. Kozub; loving great-grandmother of Cora Marrow; dear sister of Edward Gurny and the late Helen Burris and Frank Gurny. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward J. Postek, Sr. Stella was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late John and Josephine Gurny. She attended the Maryland Institute of Art for design pattern. She was employed with Bendix Field Engineering as a lab technician until her retirement. Stella was very active with the Church of the Good Shepherd, and was also their bookkeeper for sevral years. She was a member of various organizations including: the Point Pleasant Association, where she was one of the founding members and was in charge of the scholarship program for many years, and the Polish Heritage of Maryland; she served as secretary from 1976-1980 then becoming president 1983-1984, the first female to become president. She was active with PHA's sister organizations - Polish Home, PNA, and the Polish American Congress. The highlight of her life was her Polish heritage. Stella enjoyed baking, cooking, crocheting, knitting, watching football, and spending time with her family.
