Theresa Venit Hergan, 74, a 45 year resident of Linthicum Heights, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2012 at her home. Terry was born in 1937 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre. Terry worked as a Food Service Director at Mount St. Joseph High School for 23 years. She was an original member of the Crestwood Homemakers Club that focuses on helping local charities. Terry was also a member of Group 7 Slovak Catholic Sokol where she was part of the Physical Directors of Group 7, the National Physical Fitness Board, was National Assistant Physical Directress, served as Supreme Auditor for the Sokols, and most recently was elected as the Honorary National Supreme Officer of the Sokols. She was a dedicated member of Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and volunteered for counting of the collections. Her hobbies included cooking, reading, preparing traditional holiday meals for family and friends, spending time in Ocean City, MD, and enjoying time with her beloved grandchildren and girlfriends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Hergan; and her brother, John Venit, Sr. She is survived by three children, Mark Hergan and wife Pam of Bel Air, MD, Patricia Matthews and husband Bill of Hockessin, DE, and Cara Joyce and husband Mike of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren, Sydney and Alexander Hergan, Claudia and Catharine Matthews, and Sean and Ryan Joyce; three siblings, Rosemary Cronauer, Aloysius Venit, Sr., and Eleanor Venit; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 7436 Baltimore & Annapolis Blvd., Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
