On December 15, 2017, Thomas Joseph Casem, 76, of Severn, passed away at his home. Thomas was born on March 23, 1941, in Washington, DC, to the late Margaret and Maurice Casem. He attended Georgetown University for several years, but ultimately followed his passion of becoming a police officer. He served the DC area from 1964-1990, having risen through the ranks, earning the position of Sergeant in the Metropolitan Police Department. Thomas was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and loved being with his family and friends.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Shirley M. Casem; his loving children, Angela C. Benedict and her husband Charles, and Daniel T. Casem and his wife Megan; his nine beloved grandchildren; his beloved siblings, Maurice Casem and his wife Rita, and Patricia Elliott and her husband William; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his dear son, Michael J. Casem.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, SW (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Friday, December 29th, from 12 noon to 1 PM. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held immediately following, at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Thomas' name may be made to the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company at www.ovfc28.org.
