Thomas Shanley Peterson, retired USAF, MSGT, 80, died at his Lake Gaston home on Monday, April 25, 2022. He was a native of Monmouth, Illinois, and formerly of Glen Burnie, Maryland, born to the late Emmet Ray and Martha Richardson Peterson. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Peterson; his brother, Michael Peterson; and a sister, Jan Peterson.
Mr. Peterson was a retired Master Sgt. for the US Air Force and was later a Government Contractor for Lockheed Martin and other companies. He loved photography, music, sports, travel and most importantly spending time with his family. He was formerly a member of Our Lady of the Fields in Millersville, MD, and most recently a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Warrenton, NC.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 Second Avenue, SW, Glen Burnie, MD 21061, on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, where a Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD, where Mr. Peterson will receive Military Honors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Suzanne Perron Peterson; his children, Anne Marie Butler and Robert John Peterson and wife, Kimberly; his sister, Marsha Peterson; his grandchildren, Jordan and Megan Butler; his niece, Karin Peterson Kelly; his nephew, Eric Peterson; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
